IRI, The CoSort Company, Marks 30 Years

BeyeNETWORK Interview Spotlights Innovations in Big Data Manipulation

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 8, 2008 --Innovative Routines International (IRI), Inc., an independent software vendor (ISV) based in Melbourne, FL, has just recorded its 30th year in the software industry - and in the business of high-volume sorting and data manipulation in particular. IRI's flagship CoSort product is used worldwide in legacy sort and data migrations, data warehouse ETL operations, database reorgs and loads, delta and summary reporting, field-level data protection, and other time-sensitive processes.

Given the relevance of IRI's offerings to the The Business Intelligence Network (www.BeyeNETWORK.com) audience, Network Editorial Director Ron Powell recently interviewed David Friedland, IRI's Vice President of Business Development. In this exclusive Solution Spotlight, Friedland briefly reviews IRI's history and then explains how the current CoSort package is uniquely accelerating and merging the disciplines of ETL, reporting and data-centric security.

In 1978 CoSort became "the world's first sort package for commercial use off the mainframe," Friedland reflects in the interview. "Today at version 9.1.2, you can write a simple CoSort job script that will consolidate, transform, cleanse and reformat many differently formatted files, all in one I/O pass." With the recent addition of custom field functions like AES-256 encryption and de-identification, he adds, "CoSort is integrating massive files in parallel, and delivering presentation and protection capabilities at the same time and place," vastly reducing design, runtime, maintenance and platform overhead, along with the risk of privacy breaches.

"We congratulate IRI on its 30th birthday. Its CoSort software and a metadata-compatible product line have evolved through the years to provide excellent functional versatility and optimized performance for cost-conscious solution architects and risk-averse IT managers," Powell noted.

About IRI, The CoSort Company
Innovative Routines International (IRI), Inc., better known as The CoSort Company, develops, licenses, and supports high-volume sorting and data manipulation software on open systems. IRI's parallel CoSort engine - along with the user interfaces and conversion tools around it - deliver scalable file transformation performance in volume, superior design and runtime efficiencies, and much lower TCO than competitive packages and custom applications.

Beyond CoSort, IRI's current metadata-compatible offerings include: Fast Extract (FACT) for Oracle, RowGen for comprehensive test data synthesis, and NextForm for file format and data type conversions. The data definition metadata common to IRI products is also supported by the Meta Integration Model Bridge (MIMB) software, linking the file layout repositories in many third-party ETL, EAI, BI and modeling tools to CoSort, FACT, RowGen, NextForm and future IRI products.
