Excitement Grows for Immersive Historical Fiction

ZAPmedia, a boutique book publisher focusing on the proliferation of immersive historical fiction books, is honored to announce that its first published historical novel, 1919 - Misfortune's End, has won the Reader Views Reviewer's Choice award. Since winning the award, ZAPmedia has seen a sharp increase in the sales of the already acclaimed historical fiction book.

"It is very gratifying that 1919- Misfortune's End, my first book, has won so many awards," said author Paula Phelan. "The Reviewer's Choice award is of special importance as it is awarded by those who read historical fiction. I am grateful ZAPmedia is looking to make a name for itself in publishing. It is an honor that they will be printing my second book, 1939- Into the Dark, later this year."

1919-Misfortune's End tells the poignant story of an African American and Irish American family who witness some of the most powerful events of their time. Its compelling narrative seeks to "immerse" readers in this tenuous and transitory era of American history that followed the close of the Great War. A non-stop read, 1919-Misfortune's End illuminates these fascinating times in a way that inescapably parallels today's world where reality is often stranger than fiction.

"People of each decade and even century, have so much in common with people of this era," said author Paula Phelan. "Historical fiction, while preserving the unique attributes of the past, is also relevant to our lives today. The core action, drama and struggles are surprisingly not so different from our modern world. It has been a joy to discover how much we can learn from the past."

1919 - Misfortune's End is currently available at local bookstores, through its publisher, ZAPmedia, and on Amazon.com.
