The Jatropha Production to Applications Workshop to be held on 20-21 August in Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA guarantees focus on essential practices in Jatropha planting. Jatropha Production & Applications is a series of three critical workshops to be held in Malaysia, USA & Mexico aimed at helping Jatropha farmers and project developers around the world to understand the Jatropha crop and add value to their Jatropha Cultivation Activity. The workshops series will focus on the practical considerations of cultivation, management and business potential of Jatropha from the Jatropha Farmer's perspective.

The Workshop series follows on the JatrophaWorld 2008 series, which has enjoyed tremendous success in Jakarta & Miami, attracting over 800 delegates from 55 countries, which has positioned Jatropha as one of the most viable sources of non-food BioEnergy and one of the avenues of development in Asia & Africa.

The first workshop in the series will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 20-21 August 2008. The workshop will be led by Jatropha Expert Dr. Hari M. Behl, who has extensive practical experience in the cultivation of Jatropha and feature an authoritative panel of key officials from the Government & Private Sectors.

Over the two main days of the Jatropha Production to Applications workshop, Course Leader Dr. Hari M. Behl will discuss 9 Essential practices that will enhance existing Jatropha cropping systems, and take the Jatropha Curcas crop to an ideal model for industrial cultivation.

Course Leader Dr. Hari M Behl has over 20 years of extensive practical and international experience from University of California, University of London and Kew Botanical Gardens. He has more than 100 publications, 10 books and ten filed patents to his credit. He has developed commercial turnkey nurseries for international agencies, and has varied practical experience in the cultivation of Jatropha in a variety of soil types.

Dr. Behl strongly believes that Jatropha, cultivated the right way, can improve the efficiency and production in the Biodiesel Industry, and improve the lives of the poor in across Asia & Africa.
According to Dr. Behl, "Jatropha is an 'energy species' that has to be domesticated as a 'tree crop'. In order to have commercial perfection, it is crucial to understand the habit of the 'crop' and its requirements, predict possible interactions with the environment and develop packages of practices for industrial cultivation."

Workshop participants will do more than just learn at the Jatropha Production & Application workshop. In fact, workshop Participants will also be able to network and develop new and potentially vital business relationships with fellow Jatropha Planters & Project Developers with the over 6 hours of networking time.

The third day of Jatropha Production & Applications workshop will be devoted to an optional field trip to the Felcra Jatropha Nursery in Ramuan China Melaka where Jatropha growing methods will be demonstrated and discussed. There will also be a question and answer session with research staff and Dr. Behl.
