Briar's Creek Named One of Golfweek's Top 100 Golf Courses for 2009

The Golf Club at Briar's Creek, a prive golf community in Johns Island, SC, continues its winning tradition with another accolade from GolfWeek magazine.

Johns Island, SC (PRWEB) July 7, 2008 -- Briar's Creek has been named one of Golfweek's Best "Top 100 Courses for 2009." The Residential and Resort Top 100 rankings will be published within Golfweek's Definitive Guide to The Golf Life annual that is set to mail in October of this year. The Top 100 Residential and Resort Courses list will also appear in a weekend edition of The Wall Street Journal as well as features on Golfweek's website and WSJ.com.

This award is the latest of many accolades earned by the Rees Jones-designed Briar's Creek course, which has been named in the Top 100 by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine as well as earning the prestigious "Best New Private Course" in 2002.

Briar's Creek is a private golf retreat set on more than 900 acres of Johns Island, South Carolina, with an exclusive collection of estate, lakefront and marshfront homesites, just 16 miles from Charleston and minutes from Kiawah Island. The nationally ranked golf course and community offers a limited opportunity for membership and home ownership, promising a golf and lifestyle experience like no other. At the heart of this experience is a strict membership of 300 golfers, with a no tee time policy.

The newly opened 26,000-square-foot clubhouse rests between two peninsula greens, on the 9th and 18th holes, overlooking Briar's Creek, the Kiawah River and Kiawah Island. Briar's Creek also recently released Phase VI in their Gnarled Oak community, which includes some of the last remaining marshfront and lakefront homesites on Johns Island. Estate homesites are scaled from one to nearly 4 acres, with prices starting in the $500s. Closing and membership incentives are available for a limited time.

"It's a great honor to be named one of the Top 100 residential courses in America," said Steve Koenig, developer of Briar's Creek. "We set out with the vision of creating a truly private club with a world-class course, designed for golf purist, and this award is further proof that we've delivered on that vision. But the opportunities to experience this unforgettable lifestyle are limited. This release features our last homesites overlooking the marsh or our lake and canal system, it's one of the last phases in our community plan."
