Nordeste Invest (http://www.nordesteinvest.com) is now in its third year, with a 30% higher attendance compared to last year. About 1,200 business people of 17 different nationalities gathered at the Convention Centre of Pernambuco in order to find out about the opportunities of investment in the Brazilian Northeast region.
Among the various policies applied by Embratur in order to raise the profile of Brazilian tourism, is to increase the frequency of international flights, diversify access into the country and exempt taxes for money transfers abroad, thereby generating more income, employment and sustainable development. Jeanine Pires President of EMBRATUR, says; "We want to promote the natural and cultural diversity of Brazil and show the modern lifestyle of the Brazilian people. We want to draw attention to the possible experiences on offer in our sensational country at any time of year; invite people to seek more information about the different types of travel available in Brazil for pleasure or for business."
Nordeste Invest acts as a gateway for entrepreneurs interested in the investment opportunities of the Brazilian Northeast region. The intention of the event is to form partnerships and enable investors in the tourism and real estate industry to discover more about the potential of this vast region of over 1.58 million sq km. Its 3,300 km of breathtaking coastline forms the focus for much of the investment activity.
Nordeste Invest is a unique business-to-business networking event which combines a conference, speaker presentations and a large exhibition area, with one-to-one business meetings putting buyers and sellers of real estate-related businesses together in 30 minute pre-arranged appointments.
Organiser ADIT Nordeste (http://www.aditnordeste.org.br) a Government-backed non profit Association for Real Estate and Tourism Development in the Northeast Brazil, plays an important role in promoting tourism sector investments in the Northeastern region of Brazil. Members of the Association include hoteliers, developers, construction companies, real estate agencies, law firms architects, consultants and institutions. Also responsible for the promotion of Brazil abroad is the Ministry of Tourism, EMBRATUR, which since its foundation in 2003, it has increased the promotional budget with funds from the Federal Government, to US $120 million.
ADIT Nordeste's President, Mr Felipe Cavalcante says; "It is easy to make an analogy with dating and marriage. Nordeste Invest is the courtship and later in the year comes the union between parties. We have received Spanish, Portuguese, UK, Irish and German investors as well as Brazilian this year. We are confident we will go beyond the R$2 billion we attracted last year. Our budget for 2008 will include invitations to 64 of the world's biggest real estate decision-makers to visit the Northeast region as guests of ADIT Nordeste on what we call "The Buyer Project"."
ADIT Nordeste also runs in parallel "The Image Project" - which informs people via the media in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Portugal about the nine states that make up the Nordeste region together with the activities of its members - the most reputable companies operating in the real estate and tourism markets in Brazil. Furthermore, ADIT Nordeste promotes roadshows, workshops and technical visits abroad, promoting the Northeast as a excellent investment destination.
ADIT has strong institutional support from APEX - the Brazilian Trade and Investment Pormotion Agency, the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Brazilian Chamber for the Construction Industry and many others.
