Hillcrest Educational Centers, Inc. has announced a pilot educational program in partnership with WorkshopLive, the innovative Internet based music instruction service based in Pittsfield, MA. A generous donation from WorkshopLive has provided Hillcrest Educational Centers with a number of complimentary student accounts. This will allow Hillcrest students to participate in any number of the over 2,200 online, interactive guitar, keyboard and bass lessons available on the WorkshopLive website without leaving their school library at the High Point campus in Lenox.

After an initial musical assessment, Hillcrest students will participate in online web-based instruction sessions geared to their competence level and learning style. These students will be re-assessed at three, six and nine months and their feedback and the details of their progress will be shared with curriculum developers at WorkshopLive. This partnership is beneficial to the Hillcrest students as it allows them access to state of the art computerized instructional materials while providing WorkshopLive curriculum developers direct experience with students who have experienced difficulty in traditional instructional settings. An assessment at one year is planned with an eye towards expanding this partnership.
