WAND Announces Launch of New Enterprise Taxonomy for Organizing and Searching Business Content

Pre-built corporate vocabulary helps improve enterprise search and improve employee efficiency by reducing time wasted looking for documents.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 9, 2008 -- WAND, Inc announced today that it is launching a robust enterprise taxonomy to help businesses organize and tag content, making it more easily found by employees. This vocabulary, available now, is the first enterprise taxonomy widely available for licensing and integration into any enterprise search or content application.

WAND's new business vocabulary provides a four-level hierarchy of important business terminology covering human resources, accounting and finance, sales and marketing, legal, and information technology. The vocabulary includes all the core business concepts that any company has to deal with and can be extended and customized to include company specific terminology. WAND's enterprise taxonomy can easily be paired with an existing enterprise search engine to improve the relevancy of search results returned.

WAND's CEO, Ross Leher, noted that "We have been seeing a lot of market research and studies saying employees are wasting an incredible amount of time looking for information, costing companies millions of dollars every year. Taxonomy can solve this problem, but taxonomy creation can be a daunting task; WAND wanted to build something that would help people get started." He continued to say that "enterprise search engines are a good first step to help employees find documents, but adding a robust business vocabulary is the only way to make those search results complete and consistent regardless of what keywords a user searches."

This taxonomy is an excellent way to organize your internal documents and is a source of metadata for tagging documents. Taxonomy augments enterprise search with the addition of synonyms, acronyms, and abbreviations. It also provides a structure to display an intuitive navigation interface for the end user to enable browse and discovery style searching.
