Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 11, 2008
Addressing career challenges for the last "un-grouped" profession in the corporate environment, industry luminaries in enterprise sales and business development announced today the formation of the Society for Business Development Professionals (SBDP). The SBDP is the world's first and only professional association for enterprise sales business development executives who drive revenue, manage large accounts, and build alliances in enterprise-scale, corporate environments. The new web site is http://www.sbdp.org.
Uniquely, the Society for Business Development Professionals is comprised entirely of individuals working in the Enterprise-level sales and account management field. These experts face many unique challenges in their work environment including intense competition, complex negotiations and the constant pressure to make their numbers, all of which create a demand for trusted peers and educational programs in a friendly, supportive environment. The SBDP is poised to become the leading source for information, knowledge sharing and career development in the enterprise sales and business development arena.
"Finally enterprise-level sales and alliance executives have their own world-class professional association," said Jonathan Gilliam, Executive Director of Society for Business Development Professionals. "Often viewed by their employers and even themselves as 'mavericks' who can go-it-alone, this vital executive is in dire need of support to meet the inordinate pressures of the enterprise environment. With the launch of The Society, we're bringing the long-overdue career support, community, thought-leadership and mentor programs they deserve."
Gregory Wilk, Chairman of the SBDP Board of Trustees explained, "Considering how important these professionals are to a company's success, it is surprising the lack of support they receive in many cases. The SBDP is here to help them meet the career and personal challenges many of them face every day." He added, "Our objective is to become the worldwide standard for BDPs in areas of professional development, education, certification, career and community."
In addition to Jonathan Gilliam (formerly with Deloitte) and Gregory Wilk (formerly with EDS), the Society for Business Development Professionals Board of Trustees includes Mr. Richard Campione of SAP AG, and Mr. Paul Temple of SAIC, and Dr. Gary Cadenhead of the University of Texas' McCombs Business School.
Once approved, annual membership dues are US $795. Enterprise employers typically cover the costs of membership.
Membership in the Society for Business Development Professionals is restricted to those working in enterprise customer environments, who most often face long, complex sales process for big-ticket products and services, and often require a completely different set of skills than a more transactional sale might require. The Society defines "Business Development Professional" as an individual involved in enterprise-class business development, sales, major accounts, channel business development, strategic relationship management, partnerships, alliance account management, and strategic account management.
Example member job titles include Enterprise Sales Executive, Business Development Professional, Business Development Manager, Major Accounts Executive, Strategic Account Manager, Business Development Executive, Business Development Manager, Account Executive, Account Manager, Partnership Manager, Channel Sales Professionals, Alliance Manager, VP or Director, Alliances/Partnerships, VP Sales, Director of Sales, Relationship Manager, Key Account Manager, Major Accounts, and Global Account Manager.
