I couldn’t have done this without all the great people who work at Rideau. They’ve all been equally dedicated to reaching Rideau’s goals and I couldn’t have lucked out any more than by having the opportunity to work with such a great team
Montreal, Quebec and New York, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2008
Rideau CEO Peter Hart has been named as a finalist for the 15th Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award. Peter is one of three finalists in Quebec’s Business-To-Business Products and Services category.
Every year, Ernst & Young recognizes one entrepreneur who, with innovation and business sense, has brought their company to the next level. Ernst & Young’s awards are meant to inspire and encourage those with the potential for business ingenuity and skill. Last year’s winner, who went on to take Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year title, was fellow Quebecer and Cirque du Soleil’s founder Guy Laliberté.
Rideau’s CEO was chosen due to his ability to modernize a 95 year old company and bring it into the 21st century. Peter’s creativity and leadership skills were central in transforming Rideau into a leader in global web based customer and employee loyalty programs.
At its inception, Rideau began by simply producing custom jewelry, emblems and corporate merchandise. However, by the end of the 1980s, these products were increasingly being outsourced to the Far East. Peter found the solution to Rideau’s problem when he discovered a thriving employee rewards and recognition market. At that time, he took advantage of Rideau’s knowledge of corporate branding and rewards culture and used it to create the modern day Rideau Recognition Solutions.
To further secure a bright future for the company, Peter felt Rideau needed to establish a competitive business advantage. From then on, Rideau would heavily invest in information technologies under the assumption that continually focusing on research and development would pay off in the long term. Today, over 94% of Rideau’s activity is web based and technology drives the company.
Rideau began to offer end to end recognition solutions; from program development to distribution all delivered under one internet portal solution. Since then, Rideau has quickly grown into the international company dedicated to rewards and recognition it is today and has been repeatedly recognized as such.
In June, for the forth time in six years, Profit Magazine named Rideau one of Canada’s fastest growing companies. A few months earlier, Rideau won the Grande Mention prize at the Grands Prix québécois de la qualité, which honored Rideau’s commitment to excellence in all its processes.
“I couldn’t have done this without all the great people who work at Rideau. They’ve all been equally dedicated to reaching Rideau’s goals and I couldn’t have lucked out any more than by having the opportunity to work with such a great team,” said Peter.
The regional winner will be announced in October. The following month, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Canada will be picked. And finally, in 2009, the World Entrepreneur Of The Year will be revealed in Monaco.
