We are very proud of our reputation in the solar energy market and readily accepted the challenge of helping enXco meet the aggressive development and construction timeline requested by SMUD

When enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, tasked Premier Power Renewable Energy, Inc. (Premier Power), one of the largest integrators of small to large-scale solar electric systems, with installing a 1.2-megawatt (MW) ground mount solar electric system in only six weeks (a project that would normally take several months), a potential lengthy installation issue arose. How can Premier Power dig more than 2,300 holes, pour concrete and set as many support posts in such a short time? For Premier Power the answer was simple, "You don't dig, you don't pour, you vibrate and push."
"This solar energy project is set to benefit Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) customers directly through its SolarShares program. In order to offer SMUD the greatest impact and benefit, we asked Premier Power to have it installed and ready to produce electricity when it is most needed - the heart of summer," said Mark Tholke, regional development manager at enXco. "You could say Premier Power 'shook things up' as soon as they started vibrating and pushing in the supports. enXco committed to complete this project on time and on budget and thanks to Premier Power's ability to mobilize equipment, crew and materials so quickly, we accomplished the goal and everyone wins. Put simply, Premier Power delivered."
In keeping with the environmental benefits of the project itself, not only was Premier Power able to complete the installation quickly, its method of pushing the poles into the ground, a technique normally associated with construction of highway safety rails, also avoids the environmental impact injecting from 170 to 340 tons of cement into the ground were it to mount the poles using traditional methods. If necessary, Premier Power can set cement ballasts above ground should a post require additional support. At the end of the project's life, expected to be beyond 20 years, the ballasts can be lifted and a reverse process can pull the poles out for re-use, leaving the land in its original, pre-installation state.
"We are very proud of our reputation in the solar energy market and readily accepted the challenge of helping enXco meet the aggressive development and construction timeline requested by SMUD," said Dean Marks, president of Premier Power. "enXco is committed to creating the most efficient renewable energy projects possible, and quite frankly, we like being a part of that commitment. Premier Power and enXco's Solar Project Development Team are synergistic and complementary; we speak the same language and have the same commitment to quality, excellence and value."
