Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2008
A chicken, an artist, and a community arts incubator walk into a room…..Sound like the beginning of a joke? Well, it's not! LA artist Bonnie Harris and her character, "Ed the Chicken" have joined with Art Share LA to put on an amazing showcase in the Art Share LA space in downtown Los Angeles. The event will take place on August 9th and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the outstanding kids and programs at Art Share Los Angeles.
When you see "Ed the Chicken" you will feel that Ed is truly a dynamic and giving chicken soul. HE is a chicken. He is not a rooster. Therefore, he is different than all other poultry. He's had it tough, being so different, but then again, he is completely himself -- sparkles and all. Therefore, people (and poultry) love him for who he truly is because he is always, 100% Ed, 100% fabulous. Ed tells us that he accepts everyone for who they are because of the trials and tribulations he has faced as a different, non-conventional chicken. He is a true inspiration to people and poultry alike. Paintings of "Ed the Chicken "will be on display at the Art Share Gallery so check it out for yourself and listen to what others are saying about this fabulous chicken.
Some celebrities that have commissioned pieces and are included on the guest list include Adam Garcia (Coyote Ugly starring Piper Peraboo, Tyra Banks; Riding in Cars with Boys starring Drew Barrymore, Britney Murphy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rosie Perez; Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen starring Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox; The First $20 Million Is Always the Hardest starring Rosario Dawson), Ty Taylor (Rock Star INXS, Ghost Hounds), Randy Olsen (Acclaimed Documentary film maker), Kye Brackett (Emmy Award winning choreographer for Barry Manilow), Jay Lowi (Award Winning Director, 12 Stops on the Road to Nowhere; winner of 7 film festivals, Tangled starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Lorraine Bracco), Shaun Baker (V.I.P starring Pamela Anderson; CSI Miami starring David Caruso, Emily Proctor, Adam Rodriguez), BJ Bedford-Miller, Olympic Gold Medalist (swimming 2000, Sydney Olympics), and Celeste Prince (Singer/Songwriter - Soundtrack for Sweet November starring Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron). Paying anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 a piece, Bonnie has created "Ed the Chicken" pieces and sparkly toy portraits for them. You can now own your own "Ed The Chicken" or "Toy Portrait" starting at $550 at the Art Share LA show.
CEO of Chick Mogul, Bonnie Harris, decided to take her bedazzling one step further when she started to do toy portraits. "Toys remind us to take a second and play and visit the lighter side of life," Harris states. "They all have little quirks and their own personalities." Clients are amazed at how proud the toys look when they stand next to their portraits.
Since Bonnie's grandma was an artist and she saw and experienced firsthand how positive art can be for a person, and so she started a scholarship program for well-rounded art students. She believes that it is important for artists to be able to express themselves through their art and works with Art Share to help make this possible. She now sits on their Board of Directors and is the head of their Scholarship Committee.
