A recent Novotus poll shows that across the country that despite a cooling economy, hiring is hotter than ever.
From Texas to Tennessee, attendees of two national HR conferences held earlier this year agreed: Finding enough qualified employees is an uphill battle. Novotus surveyed hiring managers at the Houston Gulf Coast Symposium and the SHRM 2008 Staffing Management Conference and Exposition in Nashville.
More than a third of hiring managers polled in both Houston and Nashville anticipated hiring increases in the near future and said that finding talent has become more difficult. Nearly one-third of all polled are either already using or are considering using a recruitment process outsourcing provider.
The most difficult positions to fill were in engineering and sales. Houston conference-goers have a hard time finding managers, while those at the Nashville say their struggle is in the technology and medical sectors.
