Upper Marlboro, MD (PRWEB) July 18, 2008
Lake Presidential, the brand new championship golf course that winds throughout the community of Beechtree in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, has attracted quite a following since opening for play on May 1, 2008.
So impressed was University of Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams and Comcast sportscaster Chick Hernandez, they filmed an episode of their weekly television show on location at Lake Presidential.
"The course has received a lot of great press and it is very popular with local celebrities and professional athletes," said Nathan Presnal, Lake Presidential's Head Golf Professional. "The feedback we keep hearing is the same. The views are spectacular. The layout is phenomenal. The condition of the course is the best around."
Expectations were especially high for Lake Presidential because it was developed by Landmark Land, a company renowned for creating world-class golf courses. Among its most famous are Kiawah Island Ocean Course (host of the 1991 PGA Ryder Cup), Oak Tree Golf Club (host of the 1998 PGA Championship), and Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland.
"People hear the Landmark name and say 'they did Kiawah, I've got to see what they did at Lake Presidential'," added Presnal. "We've had people come from as far away as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They're willing to drive 3 hours to play a round."
Part of Lake Presidential's allure is its lush, manicured setting. The course's 18 holes meander throughout the community of Beechtree and alongside acres of mature trees, magnificent homes and a 30-acre stream valley lake.
"It really feels like a private country club," said Presnal. "In fact, that has been the biggest surprise among our guests. They figure if you build such a quality course set back from the road in such a quality neighborhood, it must be private. The great thing is, anyone can play here."
