Marotta Controls announces it has signed a Teaming Agreement with ITT to pursue the upcoming Multi-Purpose Bomb Rack contract. ITT will lead as prime contractor. Marotta will support with its MPACT® high-pressure pneumatic systems. The U.S. Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command, is procuring a non-pyrotechnic Multi-Purpose Bomb Rack (MPBR) for carriage and release of weapons and stores presently employed on BRU-33, BRU-41, BRU-42 and BRU-55 racks, as well as for future weapons.

The MPBR program objective is to reduce the logistical footprint of bomb racks and associated parts. Fighter aircraft often carry both bombs and missiles, which currently require separate suspense and release equipment. Carrying both types of racks results in significant weight and reconfiguration penalty, as well as additional cost. Using one common rack - the Multi-Purpose Bomb Rack - will enable fighter aircraft to release various types of munitions without adjustment, on one common rack, on a variety of aircraft.

ITT will lead as prime contractor, contributing its expertise in multiple carriage suspense and release equipment. Marotta will provide its MPACT Pure Air Compression Technology, which replaces yesterday's pyrotechnic charges with clean, reusable and sustainable high-pressure pure air to deliver accurate weapon and stores separation. The MPACT system consists of three main components; an electronic controller, valve manifold assembly, and micro-compressor. The micro-compressor is manufactured by RIX Industries.
