PhillySwirl, maker of unique and delicious Ice Cream Cupcakes, is delighted to announce its television debut on The Today Show, July 15, 2008! These frozen delights, half cake (either chocolate or white) and half vanilla ice cream topped with icing and sprinkles, were featured on Phil Lempert's "Before You Bite" annual ice cream review.
"These are delicious! In fact, everyone in the crowd this morning has been begging for Ice Cream Cupcakes!" raves Phil Lempert, food editor of The Today Show and famed Supermarket Guru. To check out the show, follow this link: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/25679074/.
PhillySwirl's fresh-from-the-freezer ice cream cupcakes come in a six-pack serving tray shaped like a muffin tin and a party sized 12-pack box (containing two six-packs) available at club stores. "They're perfect for all kinds of entertaining," says PhillySwirl co-founder Max Lapin. "Fun, refreshing, ready to serve, individually sized…what more could you ask for in a dessert?" And unlike a traditional ice cream cake, there's no need to worry about ice cream melting faster than you can eat it: Serve the whole tray or remove as many as you need from the re-sealable plastic package. Prices range from $4.99 - $5.99/6-pack and $7.99 - $9.99/12-pack box.
Six-pack trays are available at Walmart, Winn Dixie, HEB, Giant Eagle, Topps, Sure Winner and independent grocers around the country. A party-sized, 12-pack box (two six-packs) can be found at Costco, BJ's and Sam's Club. Visit http://www.phillyswirl.com for a special club store offer, a retail store finder, and games and contests for kids. All varieties are either chocolate or white cake with vanilla ice cream. The icing and sprinkles vary depending on where purchased.

PhillySwirl co-founders, and Penn State grads, Alex Plotkin and Max Lapin quit law school to sell Italian water ice in Florida. The old college buddies started their business with an old ice cream machine and a chest freezer and a rented a 400-square-foot house with a carport for a storefront. For nearly two years, they sold their signature Italian water ice flavors (lemon, cherry and blueberry) out of the same place they lived. One day, a customer who happened to be the cafeteria manager for a Tampa High School asked Alex and Max to make 300 cups of Italian ice for the school. Eventually, the two entrepreneurs got PhillySwirl into the entire Florida school system, and now you can find Philly Swirl novelty ice cream and popsicles in major grocery stores across the U.S.
