Roma, Italy (PRWEB) July 23, 2008 -- Until recently guests of Italian hotels were satisfied with vistas over roofs and domes, canals and bridges, hills, bays and lakes. Not any more. Experience and emotion are the key words when travellers look up a destination and Italy is obviously a country offering plenty of both. Travelling around Italy Hotels (www.travellingarounditaly.com) - always quick to perceive new trends and anticipate travellers' requests -- offers in many of its 13 hotels spread over the various regions a choice of cultural and musical events linked also to the flavours of local food and wine. Especially in the Summer there is a flourishing of events in Italy very attractive for tourists, which are included in the packages offered by the hotels.

SUMMER FESTIVALS IN VENETO, TUSCANY AND SICILY
The Hotel Villa Abbazia in Follina, an enchanting village in the province of Treviso, hosts every July a concert where the spellbinding notes of the Maestro Uto Ughi's violin echo under the vaults of the medieval Abbey (www.hotelabbazia.it). The world famous opera season of the Arena di Verona within easy reach of the Relais & Chateaux Villa del Quar , is scheduled every year from the third week of July to the end of August. The Tuscan Sun Festival, in Cortona (www.festivaldelsole.com), only a few kilometres from the hotel Villa di Piazzano (www.villadipiazzano.com), offers each August a kaleidoscope of exciting sensations thanks to a wide range of events. With Taormina (Eastern Sicily) as an enchanting backdrop, visitors staying at the hotel Villa Carlotta (www.villacarlotta.net) or Villa Ducale (www.villaducale.com) are certain to experience unforgettable sensations with Taormina Arte (www.taormina-arte.com), running June, July and August.

Details on events and hotels for each destination are listed below.

UTO UGHI'S VIOLIN AT FOLLINA (TREVISO)
Every Summer Ivana De Marchi Zanon, owner of the hotel Villa Abbazia in Follina (Treviso), organizes a concert with the Orchestra dei Filarmonici di Roma and the celebrated Maestro Uto Ughi, performing in the magnificent setting of the Abbazia Santa Maria di Follina, an ancient fifteenth-century Cistercian Abbey. On this occasion, the two hotels belonging to the Zanon family, Villa Abbazia and Hotel dei Chiostri, offer a specific package including entrance tickets to the concert. This gives tourists the opportunity to visit this lovely area and taste the region's exquisite traditional cuisine and famous spumante, worldwide known as "Prosecco".

OPERA IN THE OPEN AIR AT VERONA'S ARENA (VENETO)
The Summer Opera Season at the Arena di Verona is scheduled every Summer from the third week of June to the end of August and features productions of the greatest composers such as Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Georges Bizet (www.arena.it). The Verona Arena is the best preserved of the Roman amphitheatres. Built in the first century A.D., it has survived wars, earthquakes, and the ravages of time and man, and would have become a pile of rubble had it not been for the good citizenry of "fair Verona" (Romeo and Juliet). Today it houses the largest open-air opera festival in the world. Each year for the last 95 years, a selection of productions have been presented over 50 summer evenings, seen by over 500,000 patrons. The very first production, back in 1913, was Aida. That production became legendary, and is being revived each summer.

TUSCAN SUN FESTIVAL AT CORTONA (TUSCANY)
Cortona's enchanting atmosphere is the setting of the Tuscan Sun Festival featuring each August a succession of renowned artists performing in ballets, concerts and prose. The Festival is named after the famous novel Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy, the 1996 memoir by American author Frances Mayes, adapted by director Audrey Wells for the 2003 film Under the Tuscan Sun,a box office success. For some years now the Tuscan Film Festival, like Spoleto's Festival dei Due Mondi in its golden years, has a twin event in the United States, the Napa Valley Sun Festival in California. (www.festivaldelsole.com). Cortona is a scenic town founded by the Etruscans in Southern Tuscany, a charming maze of old streets and medieval buildings. Its famous museum holds Etruscan artifacts and a wide variety of Egyptian and Roman remains.

TAORMINA ARTE AT TAORMINA (SICILY)
The festival Taormina Arte, a worldwide known rendezvous with the top of the top in cinema, music and ballet, is divided into two main sections: the Taormina Film Fest taking place in June and Taormina Arte, which features open air performances of ballets and concerts during the months of July and August. (www.taormina-arte.it). The main venue is the Ancient Theatre. Of Greek origin, rebuilt by the Romans, the Ancient Theatre gives a feel of ancient and recent times and also enjoys the magnificent view of the bay of Naxos and Mount Etna. Taormina is Sicily's best known resort and is splendidly situated on the side of the mountain between the vulcano and sandy beaches.
