Partnering with EnterpriseDB provides a great benefit to our customers and together we will offer a powerful cloud computing solution based on open standards

RightScale, Inc., the leader in cloud computing management, today announced a partnership with EnterpriseDB, the leading provider of enterprise-class products and services based on PostgreSQL databases. The partnership will allow RightScale to integrate EnterpriseDB Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server database templates with its cloud management platform for extremely scalable, high performance database applications for Amazon Web Services customers.

RightScale is also a new partner in EnterpriseDB's Blade Program. The term "blade" is given to a partner's technology solution that is complementary or integrated with Postgres Plus using open standards and open APIs along with standard ODBC and JDBC connections. The announcement was made today at the OSCON 2008 Conference on open source computing. The RightScale templates for Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server will be available by Q4 2008.

"Partnering with EnterpriseDB provides a great benefit to our customers and together we will offer a powerful cloud computing solution based on open standards," said Michael Crandell, co-founder and CEO of RightScale, Inc. "We'll see an acceleration of larger customers moving more of their corporate applications to the cloud with the performance, scalability, reliability and security that Postgres Plus and RightScale provide."

"Our Blade Program is off to a tremendous start, and we are excited to have a company like RightScale joining us with such a strong presence in the cloud computing management space," said Andy Astor, co-founder and executive vice president, business development, for EnterpriseDB. "Customers will have a tremendously powerful cloud computing solution, from the database all the way through the web management and services components."

Deploying scalable, reliable applications from scratch in the cloud is a time consuming and expensive task. As a result, most organizations do not have the expertise or resources to deploy and manage cloud computing applications cost effectively and according to best practices. With RightScale's platform, any organization can easily tap the enormous power of Amazon's cloud for a virtually infinite, affordable, "pay-as-you-go" IT infrastructure. RightScale's offerings provide rapid deployment, a dynamically scalable infrastructure to meet varying traffic and loads, and require minimal resources using automated tools and a centralized web dashboard for easy management backed by best practices and professional services.

The RightScale solution for Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server will be available by Q4 2008. Pricing for EnterpriseDB's Postgres Plus databases is available from EnterpriseDB. RightScale's cloud management platform has a one-time initial support fee of $2,500 and a starting plan of $500 per month.
