Customers are looking for a trusted partner to provide simple, integrated communications that make sense for their business
Louisville, Colo. (PRWEB) July 22, 2008
Zayo Group, a regional provider of bandwidth and telecom solutions, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of the network and associated competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) operations in five markets from CenturyTel. Headquartered in Monroe, La., CenturyTel is a provider of communications, high-speed Internet and entertainment services. The acquisition is Zayo's eighth since July 2007.
The acquisition adds three new markets to Zayo's network: Lansing, Mich., Ann Arbor, Mich. and Toledo, Ohio, and substantially expands its fiber footprint in its existing markets of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Akron, Ohio. With this acquisition, Zayo adds 54 on-net locations and 180 route miles to its core fiber network. In aggregate, Zayo currently operates 18,700 metro and regional fiber route miles, serving more than 1,200 on-net locations in 20 states.
Business customers in these markets will benefit from Zayo Managed Services' expanded product suite including phone, Internet, data and video conferencing services. The now-available product bundles are ideally suited to the needs of multi-site businesses in the healthcare, financial, education and professional services industries.
"Customers are looking for a trusted partner to provide simple, integrated communications that make sense for their business," said Dennis Kyle, President of Zayo Managed Services. "We work to understand their business challenges and opportunities and then recommend the suite of communications tools that fit them best."
Carriers, large enterprise and other bandwidth intensive consumers such as content and disaster recovery providers will have access to Zayo Bandwidth's regional fiber network through its wavelength, gigabit Ethernet and high-speed private line services. Zayo Bandwidth offers high-capacity connections to key carrier, data center and central office locations. Additionally, Zayo's Enhanced Network Process provides custom solutions to customers looking for a unique, flexible and low cost way to bring fiber-based services into their key locations.
"By listening carefully to customers' needs and offering custom and scalable solutions in Tier II and III markets such as these, we are able to deliver carriers and large bandwidth users cost-effective options for fiber-based bandwidth connectivity," said John Scarano, COO of Zayo Group and President of Zayo Bandwidth.
Zayo has begun implementing its network integration plan and will begin providing services to new and existing customers immediately.
