Citizens Take Action for Solar and Wind Energy

Call-in action today, July 23rd, to pressure Congress on solar and wind tax credits.

With only a matter of days left before the summer recess, now is likely the last chance to get these crucial renewable energy incentives passed before they expire

Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 23, 2008 -- RenewPac today announced a nationwide call-in action to support the renewal of the solar and wind tax incentives. These incentives, known as Investment Tax Credits for solar and Production Tax Credits for wind energy will expire at the end of 2008. The lack of action in congress is paralyzing investment in the renewable energy sector and is threatening hundreds of thousands of American green jobs. Congress has attempted to renew the credits eleven times this year, failing each time.

"With only a matter of days left before the summer recess, now is likely the last chance to get these crucial renewable energy incentives passed before they expire," said Steve Boyd of RenewPAC. "Over 94% of Americans support incentives and investment in renewable energy and hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk with energy prices at an all-time high. The leaders and members of Congress in both parties who fail to support renewable energy will face voter questions as to why such a simple piece of legislation could not pass."

This call-in action will take place today Wednesday, July 23rd and target key senators and members of congress who are influential on this vote. RenewPac has helped gather support from concerned citizens around the U.S. by using online social networks such as Facebook and has gathered over 1700 supporters in less then two weeks.

Elizabeth Clark, a member of the Facebook group, "Renew Solar and Wind Tax Incentives Now!" states, "Now is the time to support renewable energy solutions. It is past time for Congress to pass laws to accomplish this. Congress must be pressured to do what is necessary to move us forward and away from the old dirty energy of the past."
