RightSpace helps retailers ensure they have the right section space to meet consumer needs, demands and expectations throughout the year, not just during the category review process. Suppliers use RightSpace to make certain that their products and sections are adequately spaced and not being squeezed by adjacent sections or items of lesser merit. All trading partners use it to ensure that section space is set to balance item inventory against the labor costs of restocking.

RetailTactics, the industry leader in solutions for effective merchandising implementation, has released the commercial version of RightSpace™, its software solution developed in conjunction with leading supermarket retailers and CPG manufacturers.

Category Right-Sizing
With RightSpace, RetailTactics delivers a vital missing link between traditional space management and center-store space allocation management that is essential to the emerging In-Store Implementation (ISI) discipline. It is designed to right-size section space across categories, working seamlessly with existing space management applications. Built around the RetailTactics data repository, RightSpace provides the decision-making tools to determine and ensure the right space for each item, section, aisle, and department - in a single store, a cluster of stores, or across all stores.

"These capabilities are essential to maximize productivity of each store's selling space, store stocking effectiveness and consumer satisfaction," said Joe Nassour, RetailTactics CEO. "Retailers are re-adjusting center store space and are moving to local assortment and space planning. Absent this foundation, retailers and brand marketers cannot derive an accurate read of the local store demand signals that should drive effectiveness."

Years of Development
The RightSpace launch marks the first in a planned series of commercial ISI software releases for the company, which has been honing its offerings in custom engagements for three years, said Nassour. Custom versions are currently in use at major supermarket chains.

"The underlying space planning engine for RightSpace has been perfected over 18 years in conjunction with some of the industry's leading retailers," said Nassour. "We have added a new comprehensive front end viewer that allows your team to view the data in the ways they need to use it - without need for advanced math degrees."

Retailers use RetailTactics software to build and compare space planning scenarios, then organize work in stores - which projects, at which times, at which stores, by whom. Advanced tools capture real-time activity status information during project implementation, then measure, report and track them after the fact.
