Ziff Davis Enterprise Virtual Tradeshow

Cameron Niles, Chief Technology Officer at Syzygy 3, Inc., a technology consulting and integration firm in New York, NY, will be a featured panelist during a virtual tradeshow highlighting how small- and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) can keep costs down while "preparing for the unexpected." The event is July 30, 2008.

As part of a day-long "Ziff Davis Enterprise Virtual Tradeshow" entitled "Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Keeping Your Business Going When the Unexpected Happens," Mr. Niles will participate in a panel focusing on containing costs for effective disaster recovery solutions in small- to medium-sized businesses.

Disaster recovery (DR) is just part of an overall business continuity plan, but it's the most practical area on which SMBs should focus. DR, in the tradeshow's definition, is the backup and recovery of vital business data. For solutions such as DR, SMBs tend to look at technology in absolute dollars - system A costs X while system B costs Y. But it's the soft-dollar costs that should really drive any decisions related to the protection and recovery of data. Mr. Niles will address the differences between hard- and soft-dollar costs and how each impact technology decisions.

Mr. Niles will also address the argument between in-house and outsourced solutions. There are pros and cons associated with either school of thought, with proven technologies on both sides now readily available to many SMBs. Mr. Niles will outline how to approach this decision-making process and how to factor the true costs of each.

Mr. Niles is a featured speaker in the 3:00PM-3:45PM EDT session during the virtual tradeshow on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Visit the Ziff Davis virtual tradeshow site to register and learn more about the event.
