Icelandic shredding company increases customer service with The Self-Service Shredder.

RealTime Shredding, Inc., is expanding internationally with its first sale to a European customer.

Gagnaeyding, Iceland's largest shredding company, will use The Self-Service Shredderâ„¢ kiosk to expand on-site service for its business customers, according to Runar Mar Sverrisson, general manager of Gagnaeyding. The Reykjavik-based company services approximately 90 percent of the Icelandic document shredding market, and shreds 500 metric tons of material annually. Currently, companies bring their shredding to Gagnaeyding's factory, or the company picks up documents to shred from customer sites and then transports them to the Reykjavik location.

With The Self-Service Shredder, Gagnaeyding will bring safe, secure shredding capability directly to business sites. Taking the kiosk to customer locations will eliminate transportation time and expense, and increase security for shredding of sensitive materials, says Sverrisson, while making shredding much more convenient for business customers - especially those located outside Reykjavik.

Gagnaeyding also plans to offer the kiosk to its business customers on a short-term rental basis, which will allow businesses to shred their own materials on demand. Eventually, says Sverrisson, the company may offer shredding directly to consumers on a public-access basis.

Sverrisson sees The Self-Service Shredder as a solution to his customers' common shredding problems. Companies throughout Iceland - just as in other countries - must deal with jams and breakage on a regular basis with the in-office shredders they typically use, he explains. Also, most office shredders cannot handle CDs, DVDs, or paper clips, as can The Self-Service Shredder.

"The strength, reliability, and anti-jam software of The Self-Service Shredder makes it an excellent choice. The kiosk goes beyond our expectations in its performance," says Sverrisson, who learned of the kiosk through a news article and subsequent online research. "We were pleasantly surprised to see so many features and such advanced functionality in a small kiosk."

"Gagnaeyding is exceptionally pleased to serve as RealTime Shredding's first European customer," concludes Sverrisson. "We believe The Self-Service Shredder can be a tremendous asset to businesses throughout the continent." RealTime Shredding has customers throughout the United States and in Canada, and has seen interest from companies in several other countries.
