The Phoenix chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced today an upcoming workshop on the impact of social media on public relations strategy. Social media is playing an ever increasing role in the public relations field and the workshop is designed to help PR professionals to incorporate social media into their lives. The event will be held on August 7th at Pearson Education in Chandler, Arizona.
"In the past year, the Phoenix PRSA chapter has committed to providing extensive professional development regarding the social media realm," said Charlotte Risch principal ofThe Media Push and PRSA member. "Now, we're taking social media learning to the next level with a special two and a half hour workshop designed to take your understanding and your application of social media beyond the basics."
Social media encompasses blogs, forums, social news sites, social networks, and social content sites featuring written content, video, photos and audio etc. Within these sites information is openly presented and discussed, opinions are given, and shared meaning is built. This offers public relations professionals exciting new ways to communicate their messages.
The workshop will feature Fionn Downhill, of Elixir Interactive, a Phoenix-based digital marketing agency that focuses on search and social media.
"Social media can help public relations professionals to expand their reach and their area of influence," said Ms. Downhill. "My goal within the workshop will be to give attendees knowledge that they can take away and immediately add to their PR strategies.
The workshop will cover all aspects of social media including online PR and news services, blogs, social networks, and specific tactics to produce the best ROI. It will be hosted at Pearson Education, 3075 W. Ray Road, Chandler on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at 7:30 -10am. For more information visit http://www.valleyprblog.com
