BitRock Inc., the leading provider of tools and services for deploying open source applications, and RightScale, the leader in cloud computing management, announced today a partnership to provide one-click deployments of popular open source applications on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Users of RightScale's cloud computing management system can now select from a menu of applications, such as Drupal, Joomla!, Wordpress, and MediaWiki, and launch them in an instant to EC2.
"RightScale has done a great job of automating the deployment and management of EC2 images," said Erica Brescia, BitRock's CEO. "Combining their technology with our ready-to-run BitNami Stacks makes deploying open source applications to EC2 a snap."
RightScale offers free developer accounts and new users receive ten hours of free EC2 computing time when they register with RightScale. Once registered, users can select from several BitNami application stacks to deploy, or they can launch their own software. The BitNami-packaged applications allow users to get up and running with content management systems, blogs, wikis and even productivity software. Currently available applications include: Dokuwiki, MediaWiki, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla!, phpBB, moodle, ezPublish, Mantis, Django, Redmine, Trac and Tracks.
"We're pleased to partner with Bitnami to add several of their most popular open source applications to the RightScale library of server templates," said Michael Crandell, CEO of RightScale. "This combination makes the free edition of RightScale even more powerful and valuable to those looking to explore the power and convenience of cloud computing."
