Tauck World Discovery is launching a new 10-day land tour of Greece that combines engaging visits to the country's iconic southern attractions with in-depth explorations of selected lesser-known, but equally compelling, areas farther inland and to the north.
Tauck's new "Wonders Of Greece" itinerary (from $3,490 per person, plus air) begins in northern Greece with a two-night stay along the Aegean Sea in the ancient Byzantine city of Thessaloniki. The tour then proceeds south to the scenic towns of Veria and Vergina before arriving at the stunning cliff-top monasteries at Meteora, where Tauck guests go inside the monasteries to learn about the lives of the monks and nuns who reside there.
Continuing south, Tauck travelers visit the city of Delphi, home of the famed oracle, before crossing the Strait of Corinth to explore the northern region of the Peloponnese peninsula. Here, Tauck guests visit Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games in 776 B.C, and enjoy a two-night stay in the beautiful beachside resort village of Kyllini. The itinerary then ventures inland through the scenic and majestic Peloponnese Mountains before concluding with a two-night stay in Athens.
While in Athens, guests enjoy an in-depth tour of the city, including a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium. The stadium dates back to 330 B.C. and was the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 (it also hosted the archery competition at the 2004 Games). The tour also highlights Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Presidential Palace and the city's embassy row. A personally guided walking tour of the world-renowned Acropolis is a highlight of the Athens experience enjoyed by Tauck guests, as is a guided tour of the National Archaeological Museum.
Included in the price are accommodations at some of Greece's most luxurious hotels and resorts, including the King George Palace in Athens, the Olympia Riviera Resort in Kyllini and the Electra Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki. Also included are the on-tour services of a professional Tauck Director, most meals and gratuities, all ground transportation including airport transfers, admission to all attractions, taxes, and more.
Departure dates for Tauck's new Greece tour, "Wonders Of Greece", have been scheduled to combine easily with other Tauck land, sea and river itineraries in the region. For more information, contact your local travel professional, call 1 800 468 2825, or visit http://www.tauck.com/.
