Royal Oak, Michigan (PRWEB) August 5, 2008 -- Carpman Fitness LLC, doing business as Elements Royal Oak filed a lawsuit against the city of Royal Oak on June 25, 2008. The lawsuit; Case No.: 08-cv-13207 is going to federal court.

In May of 2007, Elements Royal Oak was granted permission by the city zoning board of appeals to open an elements therapeutic massage studio. Once the establishment was open, the City Council denied granting the required licenses until after the business was forced to shut down.

"The lawsuit has two goals," reports Carpman, "first, to require that the city of Royal Oak reduce overly strict licensing procedures which I believe are designed not to make sure a massage business is legitimate, but to allow the city to shut down virtually all massage establishments. Second, my Elements Therapeutic Massage business has undergone large financial losses and seeks to recover these losses."

Carpman reports that the approved licenses apply only to therapists who have since moved on to other jobs, and he says that the business is again set back with no licensed employees and no way to get the licenses in a timely fashion should the business reopen.

Bruce Carpman, the owner of Carpman Fitness, LLC is a long time home owner and business owner in Royal Oak.

"Elements Therapeutic Massage has a long history with Mr. Carpman," reports Scott Wendrych, president of Elements Therapeutic Massage, which has 52 locations operating worldwide and is headquartered in Colorado. "Mr. Carpman runs a top notch operation and hires only state certified therapists."
