In order to get enthusiastic take up of new systems it is important not to disrupt people's natural working patterns. When users see the benefits quickly and easily, without having to add extra unproductive tasks to their day, news spreads by word of mouth and more people want to come onboard. This in turn increases the returns for the organization as a whole.
Cheyenne, WY (PRWEB) August 1, 2008
Amphora Research Systems (http://www.amphora-research.com), a key provider of electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) products for the biotech industry, announces the rollout of PatentSafe seats for researchers at Repligen Corporation - a biotechnology company focused on the development of novel therapeutics for diseases that affect the central nervous system.
Repligen Corporation piloted Amphora's PatentSafe solution for two months in labs throughout their Research Division as a fully-electronic ELN, with digital signatures for legal patent evidence. The use of PatentSafe creates secure records for patents along with the benefit of a searchable, sharable repository of a company's research.
PatentSafe provides a cross-platform, server centric, web-based ELN solution to archive critical research data and report ,which provides scientists and research managers a fully searchable, organized which provided email notification/escalation. PatentSafe uniquely achieves this objective with minimal change to existing workflows, therefore lowering the barriers to adoption.
By allowing scientist to continue creating documentation in the most appropriate form for their work, PatentSafe provides a modular replacement that fits into an existing workflow. The researchers simply send the documents they already produced to PatentSafe instead of to a printer. This means that there is no need to re-work the original document creation workflow since experimental write-ups still come from their original source application and don't have to be created within the ELN itself.
Allison Coles, COO and co-founder of Amphora, explains: "In order to get enthusiastic take up of new systems it is important not to disrupt people's natural working patterns. When users see the benefits quickly and easily, without having to add extra unproductive tasks to their day, news spreads by word of mouth and more people want to come onboard. This in turn increases the returns for the organization as a whole."
Thanks to PatentSafe, scientists can work using whatever tools suit their research needs best and still collaborate easily on their projects. Scientists no longer have to 'cut and stick' computer printouts into their traditional bound laboratory notebook, saving typically between 15 minutes to an hour per day. Furthermore, the entire PatentSafe notebook can be searched and shared with colleagues and all work is fully protected for patent and IP purposes. PatentSafe is quick to learn and affordable to deploy, and can be used in fully electronic mode with secure digital signatures or alternatively in conjunction with traditional paper-based methods.
Notes for Editors
Launched in 1996, Amphora Research Systems is one of the world's leading suppliers of electronic laboratory notebooks. Its software products, including PatentSafe, are used around the world by large and small companies, including those in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. PatentSafe helps scientists to work better, collaborate easily with each other, and protect their inventions.
In July 2007, Amphora was awarded Frost & Sullivan's Market Penetration award based on its continued success in the ELN market.
