AirplaneManager.com Expands Pilot Communications with Satcom Direct

AirplaneManager.com integrates Satcom Direct's features to provide direct, web-based communication solutions between flight departments on the ground and pilots in the air.

AirplaneManager.com, a web-based flight scheduling and management solution, has implemented technology and communication solutions developed by Satcom Direct to enhance and expand its communication offerings between users on the ground and aircraft in flight. This enhancement will allow flight departments to communicate last-minute itinerary changes or other critical information with pilots, crew, or passengers while the flight is in the air, instead of having to wait until landing.

Using a simple web-based interface, those with administrative access to AirplaneManager.com are able to send SMS text messages directly to the pilots in the cockpit and faxes to the cabin of the aircraft for passengers or flight crew, directly from any computer with Internet access. Limiting access to AirplaneManager.com account administrators helps maintain secure and responsible usage of the functionality. All AirplaneManager.com user logins are based on company-specified security levels for different members of the flight department, and all content is backed-up on a daily basis. All account information, including passenger data and communications relayed to aircraft, are also protected by the latest technology available.

When logged into AirplaneManager.com, administrators can choose the type of message (text or fax), select the aircraft by its tail number, enter the content of the text message or choose the contents of the fax, and click send. The main screens for both the text messages and faxes show a history of messages sent, including date and time, who sent the message, the tail number and make/model of the aircraft receiving, and partial text of the message sent.

"We chose to work with Satcom Direct because they are dedicated to developing aviation solutions that are on the cutting-edge of technology and are still easy to use and operate," said Terry Cooper, president, CEO, and creator of AirplaneManager.com. "That is the true basis for AirplaneManager.com, and thanks to Satcom Direct, we can continue to provide that to our customers while increasing the number of web-based tools available at their fingertips."
