Mary Jo Chambless Announces Candidacy for Dunwoody City Council

Mary Jo Chambless, a resident of the new City of Dunwoody, announced her candidacy today for Dunwoody City Council. She is running at large for District 3, Post 6.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2008 -- Mary Jo Chambless, a resident of the new City of Dunwoody, announced her candidacy today for Dunwoody City Council. She is running at large for District 3, Post 6.

"For the past three years I have actively worked with the Citizens for Dunwoody. Now that our City of Dunwoody is a reality, I have decided to run for City Council." Chambless was a founding board member of Citizens for Dunwoody, which developed Dunwoody's city plan and commissioned a feasibility study that showed how Dunwoody could function with current budgeting goals. She started on day one with the organization as spokesperson. Later, she was in charge of Outreach, which included fundraising and scheduling neighborhood meetings where she and others shared the organization's cityhood research.

Chambless and her husband, Vickers have a grown son and two grandchildren. They have lived in the Briers North Subdivision of Dunwoody for thirteen years. Chambless has an extensive resume in both for-profit private business and volunteer work. "Prior to working with the city movement, I was Executive Vice President of the Fortune Group International. Our business was dedicated to helping companies prosper through leadership, management, and customer service training." Chambless' volunteer activities have included the Chairmanship of the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia, serving as a founding Board Member of the Georgia Transplant Foundation, and Vice-President of Sales & Marketing Executives.

Improving school infrastructure and building a productive working relationship with the DeKalb School Board
