Who knows; you might have a fantastic collection of clutches and really need that insert!

Jewell Green, wife of 2008 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Darrell Green, is among the first owners of a custom-designed clutch by The Mimi Collection, a new line of leather handbags, that debuted during a party for fashionistas attending the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement festivities in Canton, OH. The collection, created by the design team of Robin Fenner, Vahe Doudaklian and Lawrence Allen, features custom inserts that allow the user to keep all of her essential items together as she changes handbag styles.
Fenner developed the idea for The Mimi Collection when she was frustrated by having to switch items from one handbag to another, which often resulted in leaving things behind that she needed later. The inserts for The Mimi Collection resolve this issue with liners that are custom-fit for the bags in the collection. The team has also developed a "universal liner" that can be used in most medium- to large-sized handbags. "They can be used in everything from designer bags to funky casual PVC bags that you might pick up in Target," says Fenner.
The inserts were originally designed for use in medium or large bags that women typically carry everyday. However, Green really wanted a clutch style for the Hall of Fame weekend. "You don't really think of carrying so much in a clutch that you'd want to move an insert from bag to bag, but this style is in now so we're adapting a bit to the market," Fenner says. "Who knows; you might have a fantastic collection of clutches and really need that insert!" Fenner says that the inserts customized for The Mimi Collection handbags are designed to give your handbag a neat and finished look. The custom clutch for Green has been named the "Jewell" handbag in the collection.
Doudaklian, a well-known leather craftsman in the Washington, D.C. area, created the prototypes for the collection and provides expertise in what works for the designs and materials. "He's been absolutely terrific in bringing these ideas to life and creating a product that is both stylish and practical," says Fenner.
The inserts are available in various colors. The Mimi Collection handbags come in an array of styles and colors and will be available this fall. The company is based in northern Virginia.
