PartMiner Launches Unique Integration with Cadence OrCAD Capture

PartMiner's new integration with Cadence delivers a complete Web-based component management solution for access to supply chain and technical information directly within OrCad Capture.

Electrical engineers face sizeable challenges in selecting components for their designs. The OrCAD Interface from PartMiner provides a unique option for our customers solving this problem by allowing engineers to search for parts from PartMiner's vast database directly from the OrCAD Capture design canvas, resulting in a more efficient development process.

PartMiner today unveils the integration of PartMiner's CAPS Connect ES™ solution, the largest online electronics repository in the world, with Cadence® OrCAD® Capture, the leading electronic design authoring solution.

The unique integration brings to the engineer's desktop a complete Web-based component management solution with rich ready-to-use supply chain and technical information. With PartMiner's new OrCAD Interface, electrical engineers can now access supply information directly within OrCAD Capture without requiring large infrastructure changes.

Ken Auga, President of PartMiner and pioneer in component management solutions, explained, "The next competitive edge for successful electronics will come from choosing partners and products correctly the first time. The luxury of design changes and supply oversights is not possible in a volatile global supply chain that fiercely competes to deliver on price. Past solutions have been missing a vital ingredient to success...data."

Companies today need to ensure component reuse and leverage aggregate component usage by making decisions with quick pin-point accuracy at point of design. By allowing filtering of corporate parts within a database of over 113 million components, engineers can search with technical parameters as well as supply chain attributes.

The world of component supply and demand remains as complex and elusive as ever, but for the first time OrCAD Capture users have the world of non-biased supply information at their finger tips. PartMiner's incredibly rich database and connections into the supply chain will not only enhance the user's ability to design faster but substantially increase product success with fewer design changes.

According to Steven Kamin, Group Director for PCB Product Marketing at Cadence, "Electrical engineers face sizeable challenges in selecting components for their designs. The OrCAD Interface from PartMiner provides a unique option for our customers solving this problem by allowing engineers to search for parts from PartMiner's vast database directly from the OrCAD Capture design canvas, resulting in a more efficient development process."

In addition to the new integration, PartMiner has recently released its new MarketPulse™ solution that helps bring together pricing and availability information from more than 11,000 sources worldwide (5,000 in Asia, 3,500 in North America, and 2,500 in Europe) in real-time. By connecting this information to design engineers, the value received is instantaneous.

The new OrCAD interface is available within CAPS Connect ES™ by subscription everywhere. Subscribers can access via the Web or via their own private corporate networks. Contact Christina Whitfield at cwhitfield @ partminer.com for more information.
