WhiskyFest San Francisco Arrives October 10, 2008

America's largest whisky celebration returns to San Francisco with over 200 of the world's rarest - and most expensive - whiskies from around the globe

(PRWEB) August 6, 2008 -- WhiskyFest San Francisco
America's largest whisky celebration returns to San Francisco for the 2nd year with over 200 of the world's rarest - and most expensive - whiskies from around the globe available for tasting. Put on by Malt Advocate, the premiere magazine for the whisky enthusiast, WhiskyFest will again feature an educational focus that will let distillers not only explain how whisky is made, but also how to identify, sniff, swirl, and enjoy one of the most revered spirits in the world.

Event Details
The 2nd Annual WhiskyFest San Francisco will take place at the San Francisco Marriott on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 6:30pm - 10pm. Attendees will be given the opportunity to sample over 200 of the most exclusive whiskies in the world, enjoy a gourmet buffet, and learn about whiskies from master blenders and distillery managers.

The goal of WhiskyFest is to educate the public about whisky through industry leading speakers and thought-provoking seminars. A full list of speakers and seminar times will be available soon on the WhiskyFest website.

WhiskyWeek, the week leading up to WhiskyFest, will feature whisky-related events and promotions throughout the city at popular nightspots, restaurants, and bars. Details on specific venues will be available soon at WhiskyFest San Francisco.

Why
"If I can create a scenario where thousands of dollars are raised for charity, whisky enthusiasts get to taste some incredibly rare whiskies, and whisky companies can promote their best stuff, then everyone wins. That's exactly what will occur at WhiskyFest San Francisco on October 10, 2008." - John Hansell, Publisher, Malt Advocate

Rare Whiskies, Great Cause
The charitable component of WhiskyFest will make extremely rare whiskies available for sampling for a small donation. All proceeds will benefit Food Runners, a volunteer organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in San Francisco.

Here is the rare whisky line-up, available to taste for a small donation:

Macallan - Current and past Master Distillers and Managing Directors will each create one unique bottle of Macallan. Each will be bottle #1 of only 1, never to be reproduced or replicated ever again.

Glenfarclas - Glenfarclas is donating one bottle from the past five decades of their Family Cask whiskies for tasting. This is a very rare treat as The Family Cask whiskies are never sold in the U.S. The vintages are: 1955, 1968, 1974, 1989, and 1994.

Glenlivet - The Glenlivet Cellar Collection whiskies are old, extremely limited, expensive and available for tasting only at WhiskyFest. Five vintages have been released over the past decade, and all will available for tasting: 1959, 1964, 1972, 1983, and the recently released 1969.
