Average Annual Medical Premium Costs Increased 6%, Says 2008 Benefit Plan Report from C&B Consulting

C&B Consulting, a division of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc., today announced the release of their 2008 Benefit Plan Report, a regional benchmarking tool which examines current employee benefit trends and strategies.

Our 2008 Report indicates that almost 60% of employers have implemented, or plan to implement, a wellness program. Their hope is that ongoing wellness participation may improve employee health and, consequently, reduce medical premiums.

C&B Consulting, a division of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc., today announced the release of their 2008 Benefit Plan Report, a recently compiled regional benchmarking tool. The report allows employers to compare their employee benefits program against peer organizations and consider the application of best practice strategies to enhance their plan’s performance.

This year’s edition reports that average annual premiums for medical coverage jumped to over $9,000 per employee. Overall, employers experienced an average 10% increase on their most recent medical plan renewals.
