Used Sports Equipment Needed For At Risk Children

Charity Launches Campaign to Collect Used Sports Equipment for Kids. Items will be collected between September 1 and October 31, 2008 for distribution in Urban Areas.

Mountain Lakes, NJ (PRWEB) August 8, 2008 -- Bridge the Gap!, an IRS 501c3 charitable organization operating in the NY Metropolitan area, has announced its first annual used sports equipment collection drive. The charity is seeking used baseball, football, hockey, basketball, and other sports equipment, which will then be distributed free of charge to low income families and their children.

The collection drive starts on September 1, 2008 and continues through October 31, 2008. The items collected may be used or new, but must not be damaged or broken. They will be distributed in urban areas in the New York Metropolitan area, including Newark and Camden, New Jersey, and the Bronx and Harlem, NY in November and December.

All donations will be acknowledged in writing and may be tax deductible for income tax purposes. Bridge the Gap! encourages donors to check with a tax professional for more details.

Items donated should be sent to Bridge the Gap!, P.O. Box 432, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046. Large donations in the NY Metropolitan area may be eligible to be picked up.

Bridge the Gap! was initially founded in 1998 in New York as Giving Something Back on LI by professionals who donated time and resources to help children at risk thereby giving back to their community.
