At LinuxWorld Conference & Expo today, ImageStream announced the company is shipping updated versions of its R1™ and TransPort™ routers. Both routers now offer quadruple the performance of previous versions. The new high-performance CPUs make it possible for both routers to forward 100 Mb ethernet at wire speed, and to support Asterisk for VoIP gateway and SoftPBX applications.

The R1 supports extended temperature operation from -20° to +70°C for outdoor installations with no environment control. It also supports rackmount, wall-mount, and set-top installation. The updated R1 includes a fanless 500 MHz AMD LX800 processor, flash storage, dual 10/100 ethernet ports and two expansion slots.

The R1 expansion slots support up to eight additional 10/100/1000 ethernet ports or up to 16 T1/E1 ports. It is available with standard AC or optional DC power supplies. At a base retail price of $1,699, the R1 is a powerful, low-cost router for wireless ISPs, outdoor digital video surveillance, and military applications that require extended temperature operation.

The TransPort is a low-profile router that includes a high-performance 533 MHz VIA C7 processor, four 10/100 ethernet ports, and one expansion slot. The expansion slot can support up to four 10/100/1000 ethernet ports or up to 8 T1/E1 ports. At a base price of $999, the new TransPort router supports wireless applications and premise applications with VoIP gateway services where wire-speed performance is required.

The new R1 and TransPort routers feature ImageStream's Inetics™ Driver Component Architecture (IDCA) and ImageStream Linux™ router distribution that are used in ImageStream's top-of-the-line core routers. Among its many features, ImageStream Linux supports advanced features including line bonding, QoS, NAT, VPN, dynamic routing, IPv6, and CALEA-compliant intercepts. Like all ImageStream routers, the new R1 and TransPort are fully integrated with the PowerCode™ ISP billing and management system.

Both the R1 and the TransPort include 24/7 technical support for the first year, free software upgrades for life, and ImageStream's exclusive performance guarantee that assures every router will perform as specified in the field.
