Kwik Fit Insurance Picks Up Top Insurance Industry Award

Uddingston based, multi award-winning company Kwik Fit Insurance has come out tops after winning the prestigious Training Award at the British Insurance Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall.

The British Insurance Awards aim to reward and recognise excellence, business improvement, dynamism and flexibility in the UK insurance sector. The event is attended by over 1800 people every year and is regarded as the highlight of the insurance industry's calendar.

The Training Award recognises Kwik Fit Insurance's groundbreaking work in recent years to improve staff training, morale and working conditions. The award is a real landmark for the company and establishes Kwik Fit Insurance as an industry leader in innovation and training.

Kwik Fit Insurance MD, Martin Oliver, said, "We are absolutely delighted to have won this highly coveted award. Securing the Training Award signals the recognition of all of our hard work in this area over the past few years and it is a clear indication that our training programmes are leading the way in this sector. Training is crucially important to us and we have invested significant amounts of resources into this area to benefit our staff. To see this recognised and rewarded is a real bonus."

The company has invested significantly in its training programmes, establishing a committed Training Academy in which all employees go through CII (Chartered Institute of Insurers) accredited training to ensure all staff understand and are prepared for their role prior to starting in the call centre.

There is also the option for employees to complete a variety of external training courses including SVQ's and professional qualifications with full funding from the business, which is a huge benefit for those who want to further their academic qualifications whilst in employment. This year Kwik Fit Insurance has also introduced a unique Learn Direct Scotland facility where staff, and their families, can learn new skills and hone existing ones - whether work related or not.

In addition to this are various incentive and training schemes such as the 'Recommend a Friend' scheme in which the company pays staff members £1500 per successful recommendation or the 'Guardian Angel' scheme whereby new employees are assigned an experienced member of staff who will help them through the early stages of their career.

The company's advancement and improvement is obvious in employee related statistics which show a dramatic decrease in absence rates from 9.7% in 2000 to just 2.7% today. Additionally, length of employee service massively increased from just 28 months in 2000 to 59 months in 2008.

The employee initiatives in place to help Kwik-Fit Insurance achieve such awards signifies that Kwik-Fit Insurance is not just another insurance company looking to obtain as many car insurance quotes as possible but is a company looking to invest in people to help the company go from strength to strength.

Kwik Fit Insurance was also named 'Employer of the Year 2007' at the National Business Awards for Scotland and consistently appears in the Sunday Times' 'Top 100 Companies to Work for' list.
