The 2008 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine and Travel+Leisure magazines presents on Friday, October 10th, the highly anticipated MGM Grand at Foxwoods BURGER BASH Presented by Blue Moon and Hosted by Rachael Ray in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. This perennial favorite has been wowing audiences for years at the hugely successful Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival and now New Yorkers can savor all the fun and festivities!
"Brooklyn is proud to welcome the foodies, chowhounds, and burger buffs to the burger capital of New York City. It's 'rare' to find a place with a heartier appetite than Brooklyn. To Lee Schrager and the 'sizzling' Food Network, we say 'well done!" exclaims Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.
The grills fire up at 7:00pm on Friday as Rachael Ray invites New Yorkers' favorite restaurants and chefs to show what they're made of -- sirloin, smoked bacon, New Mexican hatch chile -- what delectable mix will take the crown this year? Serving up this year's entries are David Burke (David Burke Prime at Grand Pequot Tower, Foxwoods Resort Casino), Emile Castillo ("the burger joint" at Le Parker Meridien), E. Chewy Cereceres (Kobe Club), Ronny Cohen (White Manna), Tom Colicchio (Craftsteak at MGM Grand at Foxwoods), Katie Lee Joel (Author, The Comfort Table), Adam Perry Lang (Daisy May's BBQ), Michael Lomonaco (Porter House New York), Duane Owen (Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods), Mike Price (Market Table), Al Roker (Today Show and Al Roker Entertainment, Inc.), John Schenk (Strip House), Shake Shack, Art Smith (Table Fifty-Two), Laurent Tourondel (BLT Burger) and many more!
"MGM Grand at Foxwoods is proud to partner with Rachael Ray, Blue Moon and the borough of Brooklyn to bring New York foodies this exciting burger challenge," said Dennis Khanh, vice president of food & beverage, MGM Grand at Foxwoods. "A highly anticipated part of this year's New York City Wine & Food Festival, the MGM Grand at Foxwoods BURGER BASH will not only highlight the talents of some of New York's top restaurant but will also feature the likes of three of MGM Grand at Foxwoods and Foxwoods Resort Casino's newly opened celebrated chef restaurants including David Burke's David Burke Prime, Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak and Alan Rosen's Junior's Restaurant."
Putting a sweet finish on an evening of burgers and Blue Moon beers are giant chocolate chip cookies and brownies from DUMBO pioneer Jacques Torres (Jacques Torres Chocolate), cheesecake from New York's landmark restaurant Junior's, soft serve ice cream from David Chang's famed Momofuku Noodle Bar and the ultra-indulgent Godiva Dessert Lounge featuring Godiva Chocolatier's, Thierry Muret.
Over 1,000 people are expected to attend this carnivore's delight at the Tobacco Warehouse in the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. Only after tasting each and every entry will the crowd be ready to vote on whose is the juiciest, most delectable burger this side of Foxwoods. When the tally is taken, Rachael Ray will announce who has earned the bragging rights to be this year's "Best Burger" and it only happens in Brooklyn!
