Students want more engaging, relevant content, and teachers and administrators want students to gain the necessary skills to graduate. Our latest Algebra and English updates demonstrate our commitment to respond to our customers' needs
Chandler, AZ (PRWEB) August 12, 2008
NovaNET is going back to school with two new course offerings, Algebra II and English II. NovaNET is a comprehensive, online courseware system from Pearson for grades 6-12 that helps improve test results, reduce drop-out and at-risk rates, and increase student self-confidence.
The new Algebra II course, based on current state standards, contains 75 new multimedia lessons that draw upon relevant real-world examples, provide animations and tutorials that students can play and replay, as well as integrated review and assessment. Pearson's instructional design team aligned the NovaNET course to Prentice Hall's Algebra 2 © 2007 textbook. Two semesters of online content provide the equivalent of one year's worth of textbook content.
The first semester of the new English II course is also based on current state standards and contains 34 new multimedia lessons. It is aligned to the Prentice Hall Writing and Grammar textbook for grade 10. Along with the Algebra course, students get new measurement and assessment components to let them know their status in terms of completion and success. The second semester of the English II course will be available in late 2008.
Both new courses feature interactive practices with intelligent feedback and remediation to reinforce principle lesson concepts and monitor student learning. The NovaNET system ensures that courses provide ongoing, formative and summative assessment for each lesson. In addition to multimedia elements and textbook alignment, the instructional design of the new Algebra II and English II lessons provides support for struggling adolescent readers.
"Students want more engaging, relevant content, and teachers and administrators want students to gain the necessary skills to graduate. Our latest Algebra and English updates demonstrate our commitment to respond to our customers' needs," said Collin Sellman, Director of Secondary Digital Product Management for Pearson. "NovaNET allows students to work at their own pace, and lets teachers assess, diagnose, and prescribe the exact material students need."
