I'm fond of giving surprises, and I think that giving gift baskets is a good way to surprise people.

In order to build a stronger connection with the customers who frequent their site, Tina and Vic Giesbrecht of Delightful Gift Basket have opened a blog at http://www.TheBestGiftBasketBlog.com, giving their customers a forum on which to talk, ask questions, and get to know the store owners. In addition, it allows the Giesbrechts to discuss the charities to which they donate both time and funds, educating the public and broadening awareness of world issues.
"Gift baskets are great -- there are all kinds of occasions where you can give one," says Tina, who is enthusiastic about her products. "But the Internet makes things very impersonal sometimes. I just felt that I wouldn't mind having a page where we were able to talk with our customers."
While the gift items available from the site will certainly be topics of discussion, the vision hardly stops there. "They say people don't laugh enough, so I thought I'd put some funny stories and good jokes where people can have a good belly laugh -- clean jokes, of course," explains Tina. "I'd also like to put up an inspirational corner, to give people encouragement. We've been in business for many years, and we've always had a heart for children in Africa who don't have proper water or food supplies, and are suffering from starvation. We've always sent money from our business, and we want to inspire others to learn more and perhaps contribute on their own to these noble causes."
The site itself is regularly expanding in inventory, offering food gift baskets with numerous delicacies, bath and body gift baskets with a variety of skincare products, and heartwarming plush gifts. "I like giving, and there are all kinds of occasions where you can give these gift baskets," says Tina. "I'm fond of giving surprises, and I think that giving gift baskets is a good way to surprise people."
What keeps Tina and Vic going, however, is their dedication to charity and the progress they've seen made. "When we bought our second business in 2001, we decided that we would supply wells," says Tina. "We were actually able to drill wells to supply villages with water. Now we have a big dream; we want to build an orphanage. That's really why we do this; it's what keeps us going and keeps us inspired."
Tina and Vic are already hard at work on a follow-up site, which Tina claims will be more for men. "My husband is a machinist, and he's into equipment, so we thought we'd look for something more along those lines. Vic is very interested in antiques, so that is also a possibility."
Tina encourages customers to check out http://www.TheBestGiftBasketBlog.com and share in the information available on their sites, their products, and their many charities.
