Former Naval officer and online ad veteran, Marcus Startzel, takes sales helm of national sports network

DigitalSports® (http://www.digitalsports.com), a national network of local sport communities, connecting athletes, coaches, fans and families, announced today they have appointed advertising, sales and management veteran, Marcus Startzel, to the position of Vice President of Advertiser Services. As a part of the DigitalSports executive team, Marcus will be responsible for online revenue generation and product sales strategy while building and leading a local-market sales force.

Marcus joins DigitalSports with over 10 years of experience in building successful sales teams, interactive media sales, forecasting corporate growth and revenue generation. In his new role as Vice President of Advertiser Services, Marcus assumes responsibility for growing the DigitalSports reach, recognition and revenues. He will maintain and prospect corporate accounts, develop strategic partnerships and spearhead client campaigns. Marcus will also oversee the DigitalSports sales team and revenue initiatives, and will be the sales coach and manager to the DigitalSports sales staff.

Prior to joining DigitalSports, Marcus was VP of Sales at Advertising.com where he consistently led his teams, year after year, to unprecedented growth which outpaced the industry. In addition, he was instrumental in developing and marketing innovative sales strategies and new product lines. His work there earned him 2007 "Best Sales Manager" award at the American Business Awards. Marcus is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer. He currently resides in Annapolis, MD.
