BoylePoker.com pro Marty Smyth adds Irish Poker Classic Omaha title to his World Series of Poker World Championship title

World Series of Poker pot-limit Omaha World Champion Marty Smyth has done a remarkable double by winning the Irish Poker Classic €300 with one rebuy Omaha event at the Macau Sporting Club in Cork, Ireland earlier this week.

BoylePoker.com pro Smyth, who has been playing out of his skin in recent months, described his feelings going into the event, "I was pretty sure that if I won it, I would be the first player ever to do the WSOP/ Macau Festival PLO double -- a feat that in all probability will never be repeated (or possibly even attempted) again."

He also admitted to some good fortune along the way to his €3,400 victory.

"I got very lucky in a couple of pots where I was drawing very thin indeed," confessed the Belfast man, "one of which was against Jeff Duval again, when I called his turn bet with bottom two pair vs. his top two pair and then got the last of his money when I made my full house on the river. That hand gave me a huge stack and was enough to see me through to the last five, when we decided to take a five-way split on account that it was 4 a.m. and with the average stack being about 100 big blinds, it looked like we could have been there until 4 p.m.

"However, there was still the small matter of deciding the trophy. We decided to go all in blind next hand and the winner would get the trophy regardless of what their chip stack had been before the hand, and in keeping with the ridiculous run of form that I've been on of late, they were all drawing dead on the turn and I had another trophy to add to my recent haul."

Smyth, who is a former Irish Open champion and current World Open champion, writes exclusively at http.://Boyle Poker Blog where fans can read about his exploits on the world tournament circuit.
