Company founders Monica Parchment and Krystal Wardell investigated entrepreneurial possibilities in several lines of business before settling on girls fashion accessories, a market they knew very well. They made hair accessories their first business-line venture, and a combination of variety and style their signature contribution, simply because as shoppers, they had so often been frustrated by limited hair-accessory choices.
Using the decorative headbands Monica made at home for her daughters as a model, Krystal and Monica began to experiment with fabrics and design. After much trial-and-error, they concluded they could best achieve variety by increasing design options rather than adding color choices. Thus were Nuneez™ Headband Designs born.
Nuneez™ Headband Designs will be marketed toward fashion-conscious girls who like to create their own look, girls who like to experiment with colors and designs, and the adults who buy for them. Krystal explains: "We want to elevate the status of headbands," she says. "We want girls to feel that Nuneez™ headbands are the design equivalents of fashion accessories such as jewelry, purses, and shoes."
Monica and Krystal also hope that Nuneez™ - there are 13 design paks so far - will find a niche in the girls/tweens collectibles market. "We want our product to be fun," Monica says, "and we think girls will immediately see the fun in designing their own fashion accessories and in comparing/sharing their design add-ons with other girls'. Our production dream, though, is that demand will make it feasible to roll out new design releases. That's a collectibles hallmark."
Meanwhile, Krystal and Monica report, daughters, nieces and girl-children of their friends have issued their verdict on the new product line. The consensus: "Cool."
