We are very excited about the future of net-centric devices, and have optimized Splashtop to support the Intel Atom processor in the areas of user experience, performance, and power management.
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) August 19, 2008
DeviceVM, a San Jose, CA-based company, and the maker of the award-winning Splashtop™ instant-on environment, announced today that Splashtop is installed on the Eee Box B202 Nettop computer from ASUS. The Eee Box is a desktop version of the wildly popular Eee PC low-cost notebook introduced by ASUS in 2007.
Specifications for the Eee Box include the Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of DDR2 memory, 80 GB hard drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, and the ASUS-branded version of Splashtop called Express Gate. Splashtop is factory installed as a pre-boot operating environment that allows users to access popular applications like a web browser seconds after hitting the power button.
The Intel Atom processor has been specifically designed to accommodate low power, small-form-factor computers like those in the Eee series from ASUS. Splashtop enables the trend towards Nettop computers by bringing users to the Internet as soon as the computer is on, and leveraging the growing cadre of web applications like web-based email, online document and media sharing, and VOIP calling.
"Splashtop is the perfect software solution for Netbooks and Nettop devices, and the ASUS Eee series is the leading hardware platform for this product segment," said Mark Lee, CEO and co-founder of DeviceVM. "We are very excited about the future of net-centric devices, and have optimized Splashtop to support the Intel Atom processor in the areas of user experience, performance, and power management."
DeviceVM works with numerous manufacturers to incorporate Splashtop into computers. Splashtop is available on a variety of ASUS products, including a wide range of PC motherboards, numerous ASUS notebooks, and now the ASUS Eee Box.
