IAITAM Announces ISO/IEC Working Group Meeting at Annual Conference
International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers, Inc. ("IAITAM") announces the addition of the ISO/IEC Working Group standards meeting this year at the IAITAM Annual Conference in Marco Island FL on October 15-17, 2008.
Suffield, Ohio (PRWEB) August 20, 2008 -- International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers, Inc. ("IAITAM") announced that the ISO/IEC Working Group responsible for software asset management standards will be holding its interim 2008 meeting in tandem with IAITAM's 2008 Annual Conference and Exhibition, Oct. 15-17 at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort Golf Club & Spa in Marco Island, Florida.
IAITAM is joining the Working Group as a Category C Liaison. According to IAITAM President Barbara Rembiesa, "IAITAM, the trade organization for the IT Asset Management field has always presented a best practice view of software standards to its members as demonstrated with the release of the IAITAM Best Practice Library ("IBPL") at the 2007 Conference. IAITAM hopes to assist the global standards organization in its quest to develop standards that meet real market needs."
David Bicket, the Convener of the Working Group (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC7 WG21), states that "By working with IAITAM in support of the ISO/IEC software asset management standards, ISO enlists the knowledge and real-world experiences of their global member community. Convening this standards meeting at the IAITAM event promises so much synergy. Many of the Working Group members are heavily involved with IAITAM and are already attending the conference."
Long standing Provider Member and supporter of the IAITAM and ISO/IEC relationship, John Tomeny of Sassafras Software Inc., has been appointed Convener of the sub-committee responsible for developing a new standard on software entitlement tags. John will address software standards in his presentation at the conference on October 18th, "A Taxonomy for SAM: ISO/IEC 19770-2 and ISO/IEC 19770-3."
