Looking for a fun event this weekend for the entire family? Stop by the PARADOCKS Block Party on Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event, sponsored by PARADOCKS East Coast Grille (Chesapeake) and Mainsail Entertainment (Hampton), will benefit two charities -- Samaritan House victim advocates and Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia. It will be held at PARADOCKS' 801 N. Eden Way location (across from the Greenbrier Mall).

PARADOCKS Block Party events include a fun-filled day of musical entertainment, donkey rides for children, beanbag toss, adult tricycle races and water tank for dunking. A special festival menu will be available, including roasted oysters, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and sausage along with wings and fries. Bands performing include:

  • Joe Maniscalco
  • Andy Harrell
  • Jason Swain and Matt Davis
  • Dr. Tom
  • Kevin Mac
  • Robbie Jordan Band

There is no charge for the event; however, a donation for the charities is requested: $2 for Samaritan House victim advocates and two cans of food for Second Harvest (food bank). Representatives from the charities will be present.

"With only one weekend left before the end of summer, the Paradocks Grille staff decided to plan a day of fun activities and invite everyone to celebrate," explained Joe Maniscalco, entertainment director for Paradocks and one of the owners of Mainsail Entertainment. "In addition, we saw this as a perfect opportunity to support community charities in immediate need."
