She is a wonderful, compassionate leader whose priorities and accomplishments are perfectly aligned with our focus at C.H.E.F., and we look forward to Paola's participation on our Board of Directors.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 21, 2008
Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.®) announced that it has elected Paola Maranan to its Board of Directors. Since 2004, Maranan has been the Executive Director of the Children's Alliance in Seattle, Washington, which is Washington's leading statewide child advocacy organization. A demonstrated leader with commitment to and passion for reducing health disparities, she brings a wealth of experience to the C.H.E.F. Board.
Maranan has been involved with the Children's Alliance in a variety of roles over the past fifteen years, including nine years as its Public Policy Director. Among her key accomplishments, Maranan helped to define and direct the organization's public policy priorities, design and provide advocacy training to groups across Washington State, and also coordinate efforts to identify and respond to the needs of children and families of color.
After leaving the Children's Alliance in 2002, Maranan served as Program Manager for the Children's Initiative at United Way of King County. During this time, she maintained her connection to the Children's Alliance by serving on its Board of Directors. Earlier in her career, Maranan was employed by the Washington State Family Policy Council, and the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs. Prior to working in Washington State, she spent a portion of her career in Alabama addressing issues that included voting rights and prison reform. Maranan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University.
Larry Clark, C.H.E.F.'s President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Paola brings a fresh and highly valued perspective to our Board in the area of children's public policy and advocacy, and we couldn't be more delighted to have her join us. " Clark continued, "She is a wonderful, compassionate leader whose priorities and accomplishments are perfectly aligned with our focus at C.H.E.F., and we look forward to Paola's participation on our Board of Directors."
"I am honored and pleased to be a part of C.H.E.F.'s Board of Directors because of our mutual dedication to reducing health disparities in Washington State through public policy and advocacy," said Paola Maranan. " I look forward to making meaningful contributions during my Board term, and to helping C.H.E.F. achieve even stronger outcomes in its mission-focused work."
