MEK DENIM, one of the country's hottest new denim brands, unleashes its spectacular Spring/Summer 09 premium denim Collection and other surprises at the forthcoming PROJECT trade show here from AUGUST 26-28, 2008 BOOTH #15053 at the Sands Convention Center located beside The Venetian Hotel. The highly-anticipated showing of the latest designs from the brand focuses heavily on vintage aesthetics reminiscent of the 1970s at the very height of the jeans generation. Key trends for the season include destructions, authentic wears and tears with mending details that add character to each pair. Washes range from faded light to medium blue hues reminiscent of the sandy beaches of Makaha and Saint Thomas, in keeping with the line's homage to travel destinations.
Making their debut at the trade show are pieces already being touted as sure-fire bestsellers: Woodstock - heavily distressed denim with a light wash of pale, sandy tint and hand-mending details; Cairo - a medium blue wash of grey cast denim with rusty tinted whiskering details; and Makaha - a very vintage light wash with contrast shirting fabric insert, authentic destruction and mending details. Other highlights include a new luxury-sport collection with perforated leather accents in a selection of straight cuts as well as capris for women and cropped, rolled up cuffed style for men. Sicily - offered in white, grey and yellow, sporty jeans with mild distressing and new back pockets with a silk screen print mixed with leather M logos; Panama - light distressed wash with perforated leather accents.
In concert with the latest collection, new groups spun off from the brand are going to be rolled out for preview during the trade show. MEK DNM - replicates the main collection's carefree attitude and its signature elements of detail oriented craftsmanship into wovens and knits for men and women. Designed to complement the main collection MEK DNM Spring/Summer 09 offers non denim pieces from classic Ts, tanks, hoodies as well as utilitarian trousers, shorts, minis, cargos and capris. Within MEK DNM is MEKology, a capsule collection of knit tops and woven bottoms manufactured in organic, sustainable materials to incorporate an environmentally responsible approach to fashion. MEK Kids is intrinsically an reinterpretation of MEK Denim for the youth market featuring 20 styles adapted from its parent collection's most popular sellers with retail price points from $89 to $95.
