(PRWEB) August 28, 2008 -- ActiveXperts Software today released a new version of its ActiveComport Serial Port Toolkit product.

ActiveComport is a COM component, providing an easy-to-use scripting interface for serial, asynchronous communications through a serial port. ActiveComport can control modems, ISDN modems, USB serial devices and other devices and machines that have a serial interface. New in v.3.1 are: improved support for binary data transfer by the use of the 'SendBytes' and 'ReadBytes' functions, full support for Windows 2008 (x86 and x64), full support for Windows Vista SP1, extended logging capabilities, enhanced VB .NET samples, enhanced C# .NET samples, enhanced ASP .NET samples, enhanced Borland Delphi samples. The Windows NT4 operating system is no longer supported.

The toolkit ships as an ActiveX software DLL component. It is a true SDK (software development component), designed to be integrated into Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# .NET, ASP .NET, Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Borland Delphi, Java, PHP and other programming environments.

All .NET samples are now created in Visual Studio 2005, whereas samples in previous versions were created in Visual Studio 2002. The .NET target framework is 2.0.
