Diane Thompson has taken a bit of a break from her former schoolmarm aesthetic, but she's still teaching people in a roundabout way. Thompson is the force behind http://www.WeddingFavorReflections.com, a fifteen month old webstore that specializes in a variety of wedding favors. The website also includes favors for other types of events such as baby showers, graduations and quinceaneras, but the store's origins are derived from Thompson's own role as a de facto wedding planner.
"I helped plan three different weddings - my own and two of my daughters'. I remember how much fun that I had. Favors are just fun," explained Thompson. "I wanted to get into something beneficial. I wanted to help the bride and make her job easier."
Thompson sees wedding favors as playing a more important role in the wedding celebration. As guests are having to travel greater distances in order to attend a wedding, Thompson has noted that today's brides want to show their appreciation in a more substantial way. She feels the high quality keepsake favors that her website offers is the best way to do that.
"My daughters were hands-on, D.I.Y. (do it yourself) We did a lot of our own wedding preparations including floral arrangements, bouquets, and the wedding favors," said Thompson, "but it turns out we could've gotten better quality favors for a lot less time and money online. You need to know which areas will save you a lot of money by doing it yourself, and when it's actually less expensive to purchase online."
She honors this notion by having some of the lowest prices on the internet. "My plan is to focus on selling the highest quality favors at the lowest price," Thompson said.
With a particular amount of empathy for brides on a budget, Thompson has also organized a blog (http://www.WeddingFavorReflectionsBlog.com) to help out couples and families who are also putting together their own weddings: "When brides plan weddings, they need a good informational source. What works, what doesn't work - everybody is budget conscious. I want it to be a resource for brides."
At the end of the day, Diane Thompson holds no goal to attempt to expand her store further than what it is, only to make it better. "I don't want to have a wedding superstore mentality," said Thompson. "We're a specialty store for favors and our items are simple and elegant. We have the lowest prices on the internet and the highest quality favors."
