The National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), the trade group representing registered investment advisors dedicated to active trading strategies, is announcing its 2nd annual ETF Trading Techniques Symposium to be held September 22 and 23, 2008, at the Embassy Suites Hotel -- Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Ga.
The two-day ETF Trading Techniques Symposium is a response to the growing impact of exchange-traded funds in investment portfolios, and investment advisors' increasing use of these vehicles to capture higher returns while holding down costs for their clients. Over 700 ETF's with over $607 billion in assets currently trade in the U.S.
New ETF's, most recently leveraged and inverse listings, have made a spectacular debut, and new ETF's are being issued almost every day. NAAIM investment advisors will share their expert knowledge of how and why to trade ETF's to maximize returns. Among the detailed topics covered will be various investment strategies, cost control, risk management, and options trading on energy, precious metal and commodity ETF's
"We've seen a very positive outcome from our first ETF Trading Techniques Symposium last year, signaling the explosive growth in this investment vehicle, and we have even more to offer this year," said Will Hepburn, NAAIM president and principal of Hepburn Capital Management. "There isn't anything quite like this event, where advisors and brokers can get hands on information that NAAIM members are willing to share about successful ETF trading strategies across a spectrum of markets."
This year's speakers include executives from ProShares Advisors LLC, the International Securities Exchange (ISE), and Rydex Investments. NAAIM member firms such as Sarasota Capital Strategies, Price Capital Management, Anchor Capital Management and Shell Capital Management will review ETF trading strategies and tactics, including advantaged currency trading for global positions, effective hedging, and pre-calculated exit strategies.
"The most eye-opening aspects of last year's ETF Trading Techniques Symposium were the talks about how ETF's work and how managers can profit from knowing when to execute a trade and how," said Ian Abbott of Abacus Financial Services. "I had no idea I was costing my clients so much money by not trading in the most efficient way. As they say about most NAAIM events, it's like drinking out of a fire hose -- tons of actionable information you can take home and use right away."
